OWLS HEAD – Floyd A. Johnson, 71, longtime bank executive and husband of the late Maureen Quinn Johnson, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at his home after a brief illness. Born June 25, 1935, on Clark Island, St. George, he was the son of Hen-ning and Julia Baum Johnson. Educated in Rockland schools, he was a 1953 graduate of Rockland High School. During the late 1950s and 1960s he served in the Air National Guard. On Aug. 31, 1957, he married Maureen Quinn at the Federated Church, Thomaston. Beginning as a bookkeeper with Rockland Savings and Loan, Mr. Johnson progressed through the ranks to vice president and eventually president. He served as president for 10 years before retiring in 1997, after 36 years of service. He continued as a member of the board of directors of the bank for 10 years, retiring March 2007. An avid baseball fan, Mr. Johnson coached Thomaston Little Lea-gue and American Legion Baseball in Gardiner. He enjoyed basketball and golf, enjoying many trips to Myrtle Beach to play golf each winter with his friends and fellow golfers. He was a longtime member of the Rockland Golf Club. Mr. Johnson also served on the board of assessors for the town of Thomaston. Predeceased by his wife Jan. 16, 2002; two brothers, Donald R Johnson in 1950 and Carl H. Johnson in 2002; Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Scott Johnson and his companion, Beverly St. Clair, of Thomaston; his daughter, Lynn and her husband, Kevin, of Rockport; one brother, Alfred Johnson and his wife, Theresa, of Nashua, N.H.; one sister, Harriet Jordan of Owls Head; and his granddaughter, Lindsay Taylor of Rockport, who was the light of his life. Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rock-land. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Federated Church, 8 Hyler St., Thomaston, with the Rev. Anne Roundy officiating. Interment will be at Village Cemetery, Thomaston.
