PENOBSCOT and BANGOR Forrest “Fordy” C. Parsons, 83, died Sept. 10, 2007, at his home in Penob-scot. He was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Bangor, son of Augustus G. Parsons and Lettie (Page) Parsons. Fordy graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1943. Upon graduation, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served with the 168th Combat Engineers, taking his basic training at Camp Carson, Colo. He served in the E.T.O and fought the Battle of the Bulge. After discharge, Fordy operated Mobil Oil service stations on Hammond and State Streets, Bangor. In later years, he was employed by Sears and retired in 1980. Fordy dearly loved life, always extremely proud and devoted to his family. He lived the simple pleasures of a strong work ethic, being a good neighbor, being a man of his word and true to himself. He was blessed to have three wonderful grandchildren and delighted in sharing their special interests and talents and watching them grow to become honest, caring, college-educated young adults. He was a devoted Red Sox fan spending many happy hours cheering them on with his favorite pals, George and Gracie. Fordy took great pride in his home where he always enjoyed welcoming family and friends. Fordy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jerrie (Feeney) Parsons; daughter, Paula Haines of Venice, Fla.; and son, Bill and daughter-in-law, Kim (Steeves) Parsons of Hampden. He was “Papa” to three grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud, granddaughters, Lindsey Noelle Parsons and Courtney Heather Parsons of Hampden, and grandson, Cory Forrest Haines of Venice, Fla. He is also survived by sisters, Carolyn Fletcher of Waterville and Marilyn Levering of Greenfield, Ind.; brothers, Richard and wife, Barbara Parsons, of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Augustus Parsons Jr. of Newport, Vt.; two brothers-in-law, Mickey Feeney and wife, Patricia, and Kern Feeney and wife, Marion. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Fordy was predeceased by sisters, Janet Parsons, Elizabeth Marsh and Elaine Waggoner; and brothers, Donald and James Roger Parsons. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Karen Calcott, the outstanding, caring staff at Bucksport Family Medicine and to Hancock County Home Care and Hospice, also to Dr. Daniel Reinke, Dr. Geoffrey Gratwick and staff for their many years of care and support. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Fordy’s life 1:30-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at his beloved home, Hy-Bid Farm, 1629 Castine Road, Route 175, Penobscot.
