WEST GARDINER – Forrest Lincoln Wakefield Jr. of West Gardiner, died Sunday, Oct 5, 2003, at the Nursing Home Care Unit at Togus Veteran’s Center after many months of failing health. He was born in Gardiner on June 2, 1920, a son of Forrest Sr. and Susan Gordon Brown Wakefield. He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl and her husband, David Knox, of West Gardiner; two grandchildren, Joanna J. Knox of West Gardiner, and Joseph M. Knox of Bangor. Visiting hours will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. A graveside service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cherry Hill Cemetery, High Street, West Gardiner. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Gardiner Firefighters Association, care of Nancy McLaughlin, 318 Spears Corner Road, West Gardiner, ME 04345.
