WHITNEYVILLE – Frances E. Grover, 86, passed away May 27, 2006. She was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Whitneyville, the daughter of the late Clement W. and Mildred (Bagley) Hennessey. Frances was a graduate of Washington State Normal School. She married her husband Osmond Grover in 1947. She taught school for 36 years in Whitneyville and Machias. Frances also worked for more than 20 years at Machias Savings Bank. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Name Church in Machias. Frances was a member of the National Education Association and the Maine Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Longfellow Cemetery Association. Frances served as a ballot clerk for many years in Whitneyville. Frances enjoyed cooking. Family and friends especially enjoyed her fudge. She enjoyed traveling, all over the world, with her daughter and son-in-law. Frances enjoyed writing poetry and would write poems for her family, friends and coworkers for all occasions. Frances also enjoyed walking. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Gay and husband, Harvard, of Brookline, N.H.; a son, Werden C. Grover of Whitneyville; one special grandson, Clayton Gay and wife, Tammy, of East Machias; three sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Annie B. White of Jonesboro. She will also be missed by many dear friends and former students. She was predeceased by her husband, Osmond Grover; and two brothers, Edward L. Hennessey Sr. and Clement W. Hennessey. Visiting hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 29, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Machias. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
