ELLSWORTH and WINTHROP – Frances Jewell White, 90, died May 26, 2006, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born March 6, 1916, in Easton, the daughter of Herbert Lester and Sadie Mae (Duncan) Jewell. Frances lived in Ellsworth from 1943-1983. She and her husband and family spent the summers at her camp on Beech Hill Pond. They have fond memories of their time together there. She had worked at the Dairy Joy and later at A & P. She then became a teller at the Union Trust Co. until her retirement in 1982. She had been a member of the 1st Congregational Church, UCC and the Eastern Star, Irene Chapter, O.E.S., both of Ellsworth. In 1983, after her retirement, she moved to Winthrop to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She lived there until August of 2005, when she returned to Ellsworth to be close to her daughter. Frances enjoyed working in her garden, sewing and cooking and most especially the Boston Red Sox. She is survived by two daughters, Martha White Masters and husband, Tom Beavert, of Cedaredge, Colo. and Linda Taylor White of Ellsworth; five grandchildren, Ronald Taylor and wife, Joyce and Daniel Taylor, all of Winthrop, Dawn Lynn Taylor of Melvern, Pa., Terrie Taylor and husband, Michael Roy of Pittsfield and Stephen Masters of Pattaya, Thailand; five great-grandchildren, Kempton II, Camden, Caleb, Isaac and Ian; two sisters, Marjorie Koss of Arizona and Dorcas Schofield of Washington state; a brother, Duncan Jewel and wife, Ruth, of Arizona; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kempton R. White in 1979. A graveside memorial service will be announced at a later date.
