STONINGTON – Louise M. Gross, 96, passed away May 26, 2006, at Island Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 22, 1909, in Stonington, the daughter of the late Timothy and Rosa (Adams) Hutchinson. During World War II, Louise worked as an observation post at Greenhead Lookout Point. Louise was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ-Restoration Branch and the Eastern Star. Louise summered with her husband, Virgil, on Head Harbor, Isle au Haut. Louise will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and special friend. She is survived by her son, Elmer Gross and wife, Mona, of Hopedale, Mass.; grandchildren, Debra Gross-Larrabee and husband, Richard, of Stonington and Mark Gross and wife, Wanda, of Blackstone, Mass.; great-grand-children, Richard Larrabee Jr. and wife, Jill, Shannon Joyce and husband, Mark, Monica Larrabee, Amelia Larrabee, Christina Gross, Kimberly Gross and Dereck Gross; great-great-grandchildren, Michael F. Joyce and Avie L. Larrabee; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Virgil A. Gross; and brothers, Archie and Herman Hutchinson. Visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 29, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Stonington. A funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ-Restoration Branch in Sunset. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Oceanville.
