PITTSFIELD – Frances Elizabeth (Garrity) Dutill, 94, wife of the late Ernest Dutill, passed away peacefully at Sebasticook Valley Nursing Facility on Sunday, March 7, 2004. She was born June 1, 1909, in Pittsfield, the oldest daughter of Edith and John Garrity. Frances was educated in the Pittsfield school system and attended Sister’s Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years at the Lancey House in Pittsfield, as a bartender and pastry cook. At the time of her retirement, she was employed by the Northeast Shoe Co. in Pittsfield. Frances loved to party, dance, go on fishing trips with her husband, enjoy a Manhattan – straight up, and investigate where the fire trucks were headed. You could always find her in her gold VW beetle with her dear friend, the late Stell Cianchette going for a ride. She loved her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light-of-her-life. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; son, John; sister, Margaret Gammon; great-grandson, Cameron Matthew Young; and beloved son-in-law, James H. Young. She is survived by two daughters, Exerene Young of Palmyra, and Carolyn Belanger and her husband, Leo “Buzz” Belanger, of Hampden; five grandchildren, Dean Belanger of Gorham, Kirk Young and his wife, Heather, of Merrimack, N.H., Juanita (Young) Spaulding and her husband, Everett, of Plymouth, Mark Belanger of Portland, Eric Young and his fianc_e, Kelly Cram, of Pittsfield; three great-grandsons, Conner and Eric Young of Merrimack, N.H., and Christopher Spaulding of Plymouth; two nieces, Linda King and her husband, Jerry, of Winslow, Nancy Adams and her husband, Peter, of Palm Beach, Fla. At her request, there will be no funeral services. A graveside service at the Village Cemetery, Pittsfield, will be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Communications Dept., 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.
