GLENBURN – Frances Kopp, 76, adored wife of William Kopp, passed away at home Oct. 24, 2004. She was born June 12, 1928, on French Island in Old Town, on the daughter of Henry and Louise Thibodeau. While attending Husson College for journalism, Fran met her beloved husband, Bill, after he returned from serving his country during World War II. After her first three children were born, she moved with her family from Maine to Long Island, N.Y., where she had two more children and remained there until she and Bill returned to Maine in 1986 to live out the rest of their lives in happiness. Fran will always be remembered as a loving and generous mother, a deeply caring wife, a brilliant chef and homemaker, a creator of cherished holiday memories, a good friend, and a person with a dry wit and unbeatable sense of humor. She was cherished by her family and friends and her presence in their daily lives will be missed greatly. Fran is survived by four sons, David Kopp of Florida, Dana Kopp and his wife, Maureen, of Connecticut, Stephen Kopp of Virginia, James Kopp and his wife, Elizabeth, of New York; a daughter, Mary Ellen Kopp and her partner, Maggie Heskin, of New York City; a sister, Betty Medeiros of Old Town; 12 grandchildren seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, William T. Kopp, in 2002; her parents, her sister, Germaine; her brother, Pete; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Normand Richard, celebrant. Immediately following the Mass a luncheon will be served at the Parish Center. Graveside committal prayers will be said at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, Old Town.
