OLD TOWN and BUCKSPORT – Frances Irene “Nanny” Simmons, 88, died Dec. 18, 2003, at a Brewer health care center. She was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Springfield, Miss., the daughter of Oscar and Myrtle (Sinclair) Clements. Frances loved the time spent at Brandy Pond with her family, and she especially loved her grandchildren. Frances was an avid card player, and enjoyed playing cards with all her friends at Marsh Island Apartments. She is survived by three daughters, Jolene Simmons of Bucksport, Joanne and her husband, James Bosse, of Old Town, and Dorothy Seekins of Bucksport; one son, Lewis Hutchins of Blue Hill; two grandchildren, Paul Bosse and fianc‚e, Loriann Magno, of Auburn, and Andrae Bosse of Sarasota, Fla.; several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Forest Frederic Simmons; and her daughter, Barbara Simmons. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Brookings-Smith, Old Town Chapel, 205 Main St., Old Town where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday with Joel McLain, officiating. Spring Interment will be in Lawn Cemetery, Guilford. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the Brookings-Smith Reception Room, 205 Main St., Old Town following the service on Monday.
