VERO BEACH, Fla. – Frances Louise (Schoppee) Potter Thompson passed away Jan. 6, 2007. She was born June 2, 1908, in Machias, to Fred and Mary Cutter Schoppee. She was the oldest of eight children. Frances graduated from Nasson College in 1926 as a registered dietician. She was employed at Eastern Maine General Hospital, Bangor State Hospital in Bangor, Thayer Hospital, Waterville and Augusta General Hospital, Augusta during her career. She retired in 1972 and spent her summers in Lucerne-in-Maine and winters in Lake Worth, Fla., where she worked part time for several winters at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach, Fla. She moved permanently to Vero Beach, Fla., in 2004 to live with her daughter and granddaughter. Frances loved to bake, crochet afghans and correspond with her many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace “Bumpa” Thompson; sons, Robert and Laurence Potter; daughter, Lou-Ann Potter; brothers, Fred Schoppee Jr. and Richard Schoppee; sisters, Helen MacManus, Laura Mallar and Gertrude Gould. She is survived by her son, Leonard and his wife, Frances Potter, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; the Bahamas daughters, Peg Pope of Vero Beach, Fla., and Jo-Ann Potter of Palm Springs, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Teresa Potter of Acworth, Ga.; grandchildren, Kim Mayo of Vero Beach, Fla., Mike and his wife, Pat Mayo, of Lake Worth, Fla., Molly and her husband, Ken Buwalda, of Acworth, Ga., Christopher and his wife, Kat Potter, of North Charleston, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Chase, Alex, Patti and Vivian of Florida, Joshua, Josiah and Emily of Georgia; sisters, Margaret Hayward and Marian Coffin of Machias; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held in Machias, at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nasson College Alumni Association, P.O.
