ELLSWORTH – Gloria M. Dietrich, 77, died Jan. 7, 2007. She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Portage, the daughter of Ernest and Ragnhild (Johnson) Prosser. Gloria was active in the St. Joseph Catholic Church for more than 45 years. She helped to form and lead the St. Joseph’s Prayer Group, Rosary Group, WISDOM Group and the St. Joseph Prayer line by phone. She served as an Eucharistic minister at Mass and for the Shut In Ministry and served as past president of Our Lady of Carmel, Third Order Secular. Professionally she worked for the Ellsworth school department for 30 years as a teacher’s aide. In her retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher. She was also known for her work at the family owned restaurant, The Aloha Lunch. Gloria was very active in horse competitions with her daughter, Laura. She had a passion for all animals. She enjoyed oil painting, working on puzzles and was an avid gardener. She traveled extensively with her husband, who was in the Navy. She is survived by her two daughters, Paula Dietrich and husband, John McPeek, of Bangor, Laura Pedra and husband, Walter Jr., of Saco; sister, Irene Rattray of Presque Isle; grandchildren, Michael Hunt of Gouldsboro, Christina Hunt of South Thomaston, Taylor Pedra and Mathew Pedra of Saco; and one niece, Sheila Corey of Alliance, Neb. Calling hours will be held 5:30-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Fr. Scott Mower, celebrant.
