MATTAWAMKEAG – Hugh C. Michaud Sr., 65, died Jan. 7, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility after an extended illness. He was born April 17, 1941, in Winn, the son of Thomas and Mary (Hulbert) Michaud. Hugh served for two years in the Peace Corp. He worked for Great Northern/Bowater for more than 30 years. Hugh was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lincoln and Scared Heart Catholic Church, Winn and was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also very active in community affairs. Hugh is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty (Fitzgerald) Michaud of Old Town; one son, Hugh Michaud Jr. of Veazie; two daughters, Tammy and her husband, Keith Harrington, of Florida and Lori Michaud of Old Town; one brother, Daniel O’Connor of North Carolina; six sisters, Celia Hussey of Howland, Myrtle Rand of Portland, Patricia Hussey of Winn, Elvie of Dexter, Cora Connor and Violet Hunt, both of Abbott; four grandchildren, Curtis, Heather, Anna and Juliette; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono, with the Rev. Ronald Nadeau, celebrant.
