CALAIS – Francine T. Altvater McMurtry Chisholm, 71, died unexpectedly Jan. 22, 2004, at a Calais hospital. She was born and raised at Pleasant Point Reservation. She graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Eastport. She was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Calais. She loved dancing and playing bingo with her bingo buddies, Jan and Laura. Francine will be greatly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Kathleen Altvater; her first husband, Harold D. McMurtry; her second husband, Phillip Chisholm; her daughter, Kathleen Foster; her son, Harold D. McMurtry; four sisters, Christina Janda, Esther Miller, Dorothy Dore, Clara Stelma; three brothers, Anthony Altvater, Christopher Altvater and William Altvater. She is survived by her four daughters, Lindy and Gary Hatt, Brenda and Pete Fielding, Francine Gardner, Diane and Larry Foster; daughter-in-law, Sue McMurtry and friend, Dan Gardner; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Saturday afternoon Jan. 24, and Sunday, Jan. 25, at Val Emery’s residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Pleasant Point, Perry, with the Rev. Gaffey celebrant, interment will be in the Passamaquoddy Tribal Cemetery.
