ORONO – Francis A. Dunn, 62, passed away Aug. 18, 2007, surrounded by his loving family at a local hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 23, 1945, in Old Town, the son of Alvin and Marion (Wiles) Dunn. Francis attended Milford schools and worked at the Pie Plate, Old Town. He recently retired after 28 years of employment at the University of Maine in the department of ground shop facilities management. Francis was an outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening and more recently, outdoor and wildlife photography. He also collected coins and baseball cards. More than anything, Francis enjoyed his family and spending time with them. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Patricia (Dunn) Cox. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Tammy Dunn; devoted and supportive daughter, Christina Dunn; sons, Clint Dunn, Barry Dunn and Christopher Dunn; brothers, Gary Dunn and Larry Dunn; sister, Mary (Dunn) Pailes; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Tammy and Christina extend their gratitude to each and every person who has supported and stood by them during this difficult time. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with the Rev. Bruce Stevens officiating.
