OLD TOWN – Frank Rossi Sr., 76, went to be with his wife, Lela; son, Frank “Skip” Jr.; and daughter, Debbie, Aug. 20, 2007. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones at home after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 12, 1931, the fourth son of Frank and Josephine (Lombardo) Rossi. Frank was a true patriot who joined the Air Force in 1950 and served 22 plus years. He served actively in the Korean and Vietnam War. As a sergeant, he directly supervised the lower ranks and was in charge of quality control of the aircraft. Frank retired from the military in 1970, yet that did not slow him down, he went on to own various businesses. He was always finding innovative ways to fix things and was happiest in his shop. Frank was a kind and generous man, always first to help friends, neighbors and even strangers. He liked to fix little wagons and give them to needy children. He also spent a lot of time and energy raising funds for feeding the hungry. He is survived by his partner, Jane Hamma of Old Town; her daughter and son-in-law, Ann Waterbury and John of Turner and their children, Jason, Amy and Theresa; a sister, Rosalie Edgerly of Ells-worth; a brother, Louis Rossi of California; niece, Jessie Butler and husband, Robert; a great-niece, Jennifer Haslam and husband, Eric and their daughter, Aurora; a daughter, Michelle Bagley and husband, Robert; a granddaughter, Amanda; grandson, Ben; son-in-law, Clarence Belanger; special friends, Ken and Fran Mishou; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lela; son Frank “Skip” Jr.; and daughter, Deborah Belanger. Friends are invited to call 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Aug. 24, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside funeral service will be held after the visitation to begin 12:30 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1048 State St., Bangor, with the Rev. Richard M. Dickinson, Wing Chaplin of the 101st Air Refueling Wing, Air National Guard, Bangor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith, Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
