WINTER HARBOR – Francis B. “Pete” Estes, 73, died Dec. 24, 2003, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born in North Adams, Mass., May 18, 1930, the son of Melvin and Mary (St. Cyr) Estes. He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and worked in the commissary at Winter Harbor for more than 20 years. Pete is survived by five sons, Francis B. Estes Jr. of Beaverton, Ore., Paul A. Estes and his wife, Kelly, of Aloah, Ore., Daniel J. Estes of Ellsworth, Matthew D. Estes and his wife, Mary, of Prospect Harbor, John M. Estes and his wife, Nicole, of Ellsworth, two sisters, Helen Horsman of Monument Beach, Mass., Carol Porrier, of Torrington, Conn. one brother, Norman J. Estes, and his wife, Sandy, of North Adams, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia (Mutanen) Estes. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with Pastor Mike Cox officiating.
