PRESQUE ISLE – Francis G. Allen, 78, died June 20, 2006, at his residence. He was born March 24, 1928, in Presque Isle, the son of Wilson and Olive (Glidden) Allen. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed as a mailman for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years. Mr. Allen was a member of the Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor, Trinity Lodge No. 130 AF & AM, the Presque Isle Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E., No. 1954, Ray Goding Post No. 88, American Legion, the Hayward-Frazier Post No. 2599 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed bowling and was a scoutmaster of Troop 171. He is survived by his wife, A. Christine (Leland) Allen of Presque Isle; three sons, Carl Allen and his wife, Vicki, David Allen and his wife, Linda, all of Presque Isle, Frank Allen and his wife, Terrie, of Jacksonville, N.C.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Hartford of Columbia Falls. He was predeceased by a brother, Sam Allen. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Masonic service will be held 5:30 p.m. by officers and members of Trinity Lodge No. 130 AF & AM. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Diane Langworthy officiating. A military committal service will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
