GLENBURN – Francis S. Harper, 54, died at peace in his Glenburn home on Pushaw Lake, Oct. 24, 2003, from complications from cancer. He was born March 31, 1949, in Bangor, the son of John L. Sr. and Ellen (Wallace) Harper. Francis attended Bangor area schools and enlisted in the Army in 1967, with two tours of duty in Vietnam. Honorably discharged, he retired from the military in 1980. He worked for Dorsey Furniture in Holden, until he was unable to work due to illness. Surviving in addition to his mother, Ellen Danforth of Bangor; are one son, Derek Harper of Georgia; three daughters, Tanya Harper of Texas, Tara Harper of Oregon, and Jennifer Tidyman of Colorado; three brothers, John Harper of Glenburn, Leo Harper of San Jose, Calif., and Richard Danforth of Old Town; three sisters, Nancy Harper of Bangor, Linda Elston of Carmel, and MaryEllen Moors of Levant; his wife and friend of many years, Jenny Washington of Bangor; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father; a brother, Robert Harper; and a sister, Patricia Noyes. A graveside service with military honors will be held 12 noon Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, for family and friends wishing to say goodbye.
