MILLINOCKET – Francis W. McMahon, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born Oct. 20, 1923 in Millinocket, the son of John and Bridgette (Finn) McMahon. For years, Fran raised money for the lung association by participating in the trek across Maine, for M.S. in Texas, and in Holland. He also participated in horseshoe and bowling tournaments in New England. He loved spending time with his family at his camp on South Twin Lake. Fran served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion post No. 80, and a life member of the V.F.W. Post No. 4154. He was a foreman in the finishing room at Great Northern Paper Company, retiring after forty years. Fran is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rita (Angotti) McMahon of Millinocket; one daughter, Geraldine McMahon Wyman of Millinocket; two grandchildren who Fran will be greatly missed by, Justin Wyman and Jessica Wyman, both of Millinocket; one sister, Sister Mary Beatrice of Connecticut; many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by special friends, Paul Porter, T-We and Shirley Walsh. He was predeceased by three sisters, Lillian, Mary, and Josephine. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Burial will take place immediately following in Millinocket Cemetery.
