MILBRIDGE – Frank E. West, 93, died peacefully the morning of Oct. 9, 2007, surrounded by his loving family, at an Ellsworth health care facility. He was born May 16, 1914, in Cherryfield, the son of the late James E. and Bernice (Piper) West. Mr. West was a seal machine operator at Jasper Wyman’s for 45 years, retiring in 1978. While employed there, he worked at the clam factory, fish factory and the blueberry plant. Recently, he enjoyed playing cards and the one arm bandit. He shared 65 years of marriage with the late Herma West, who died in 2003. Family members include his children, Carroll West and wife, Lorraine, of Milbridge, Herman West and wife, Nancy, of Milbridge and Sandra D. West of Steuben; grandchildren, Louene Fitzpatrick, Timothy West, Thomas West, Frank West, Penny Grant, Susan Rumery, Kevin Hanington, Ernest Hanington and Heather Shepherd, 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Muriel Beal of Milbridge; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Gloria Beal and husband, Curtis; a son-in-law, George Hanington of Steuben; and a half brother, Richard Rumery of Indiana. In addition to being predeceased by his wife, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Delores Hanington; a son, James E. West; and a brother and three sisters. Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, with Pastor Owen Beal officiating. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
