OAKFIELD – Frank L. Boutilier, 86, of Oakfield, slipped peacefully beneath the waves, Feb. 13, 2005, at the Houlton Regional Hospital with family at his side. He was born on May 21, 1918, in Oakfield, the son of Roy W. and Vera (Shorey) Boutilier. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Medical Corps in the ETO as well as serving stateside with the Military Police. He started working for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad as a Carman in 1952 and worked there until his retirement in 1983. After his retirement he spent many enjoyable hours scouting for moose on the Duck Pond Road and knew most of them by their first names. A confirmed bachelor for 57 years, Frank met Mona Horten Godsoe at the Hilltop Lanes while bowling for pennies on Monday evenings. They were married for 24 years when she passed away in May 1998. He leaves behind his stepdaughter, Joyce Blake and her husband, Kenneth, of Houlton; six stepgrandchildren, Roger Blake and his wife, Denise, of Linneus, David Brown and his wife, Julie, of Houlton, Margene Young and her husband, Jamie, of Windham, Rhonda Brophy of Shin Pond, Kristy Swallow and her husband, Gregory, of Hodgdon, Kendra Thorton and her husband, Malcolm, of Houlton; 15 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great- grandchildren; brothers, Ronald H. and his wife, Helen, Clyde O. and his wife, Patty, all of Oakfield, and William S. Boutilier of Smyrna; many nieces and nephews, one special nephew, Ronnie Bragg of Houlton. He was predeceased by brothers, Earle J., Kenneth R. and Wellman R.; sisters, Minnie Bustard and Helen Bragg. Frank was of a rare breed and was a nice person, even before he died, he will be missed by many, especially by Dutchie Hamm and Gordon Morton and his two cats, Suki and Tom. Graveside service will be held in the Oakfield Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.
