BROOKSVILLE – Frank “Pa” Olin Fowler, 82, passed away peacefully July 20, 2007, surrounded by his family at home. He was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Brooksville, the son of Lemuel Olin and Alice (Billings) Fowler. Frank was a simple man who loved simple things, including a good bowl of ice cream, puttering, a fierce argument and the Boston Red Sox. After working as a pulp truck driver, Frank began his own construction business in 1947. He successfully owned and operated his business for nearly 50 years, until he sold it to his sons in 1996. He was on the board of directors for Island Nursing Home, road commissioner for the town of Brooksville, an O.D.D. Fellow and a Mason. He always enjoyed little ones, especially his grandchildren and great-grand-children. Nothing brought a smile to his face quicker than a child. He worked hard his whole life to be able to afford his family pleasures that he didn’t have as a child. He was always willing to help anyone in need, especially if there was hard work involved. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time helping his family constructing roads, camps and anything else he could do to get dirty. He was deeply loved, widely respected and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his four children, Brenda Rankin, Darrell Fowler and his wife, Pam, Mike Fowler and his wife, Cathy and Tim Fowler and his wife, Brenda, all of Brooksville; grandchildren, Donna Rankin, Amy Branson, Sally McVay and her husband, Bryan, Michelle Fowler, Maggie Fowler and Jon Chase, Jessi Judkins and her husband, Danny, Kris Larrabee and her husband, Arron, Kate Fowler, Cammie Lepper and her husband, Jason, Shawn Fowler, Josh Fowler, Eric Hutchins and his wife, Erin and Ryan Hutchins. In addition, he is survived by 17 great-grandchildren, Joey and Eric Burns, Abigail Bray, Jacob, Emma and Libby Weed, Jordyn and Marissa Judkins, Sarah and Savannah Desmond, Kayla Bowden, Kyle Fowler, Thomas Montilla, Kylie Chase, Cole and Jake Lepper and Ella Hutchins; and sister, Beulah Hillard of Monmouth. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey “Joe” Babson Fowler in 1980; and his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Babson Fowler in 2003. Great thanks and deep appreciation to his caregivers, Gloria, Marge, Diane and Frank, who not only helped around the house, but cared for him and became an extended part of his family. Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Mount Rest Cemetery, North Brooksville, with Allen Myers officiating. A gathering for family and friends will be held after the service at Frank’s home, 519 Bagaduce Road, Brooksville.
