CORINNA – Fred E. Hills, 91, died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, after a brief illness at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 9, 1913 at Montville a son of Jessie and Rose (Nichols) Hills. He graduated from Searsmont High School, Class of 1933. On Sept. 13, 1936, he married Bertha Day. They moved to Corinna in 1937, where Fred worked at a local farm. He then worked for the Snowflake Canning Company in Corinna for 17 years and retired from Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna in 1970. Fred will be remembered for his good humor, story telling and the songs that we loved to hear him sing. He enjoyed family gatherings and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Treworgy of Hampden; a son, Arnold and wife, Gloria Hills, of Augusta; a daughter, Ruth and husband, Rev. Bruce Hudson, of Corinna; a sister, Gladys Savory of Derry, N.H.; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and his friend, Bobby. He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha and a brother, Albert. Friends may call at the funeral chapel 1 p.m. until the time of services. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Rd., Corinna, with the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy of the Corinna United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Corinna Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Corinna United Methodist Church Building Fund, care of Mr. Larry Westin, Treasurer, P.O. Box 418, Corinna, ME 04928. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral chapel.
