LINCOLN – Fred J. Dobson Sr. went home to be with the Lord March 26, 2005, just six days after his beloved wife, Alice, at a Lincoln hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 23, 1926 in East Winn to Fred L. and Ruth (Trueworthy) Dobson. Fred attended school in Winn, leaving in the fifth grade to work in the woods. Fred was a very hard worker and always took time to help others. He had a long career of driving truck and working in the woods. He proudly served in the Army during World War II from 1944-1947. At age 22, he married Alice and immediately became Dad to her four children whom he raised as his own. He was a long time member of the First Bible Baptist Church of Lincoln where he served as a trustee and usher. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his devoted wife, Alice; three sons, Carroll and Eugene Ireland and Robert Michael Dobson; two brothers, Charles and Delmont Dobson; and two sisters, Ruth Little and Gladys Baker. He is survived by a daughter, Doris Libby of Chester; son, Temple Ireland and his wife, Edith, of Chester; son, Fred Dobson Jr. and his wife, Donna; and daughter, Janet Radovic and her husband, Albert, all of Seymour, Conn.; and son, James Dobson of Lincoln; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Ireland of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Bobby Libby, Rhonda Libby, Barbara Ireland, Cheri Archer, Tanya Taylor and Rebecca Radovic; seven great-grandchildren with the eighth expected in August; several special nieces and nephews and many special friends. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln where a military service will be held. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Upcott and the Rev. Ronald Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in his memory to the First Bible Baptist church of Lincoln. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
