HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Freda Jane McKenney, formerly of Pittsfield, died Friday, April 20, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 5, 1921, in New Brunswick, the daughter of Frank and Velma (Steeves) Greene of Pittsfield. She attended Pittsfield schools and was employed by the former Edwards Co., for many years. Freda loved to crochet. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano and accordion. Her greatest joy in life had been her children and her love for God. She is survived by her two daughters, Jane Faye Shinn of Huntsville, Ala., and Jeannie Raciti of Farmingdale, N.J.; four sons, Gene McKenney of Huntsville, Ala., Gary McKenney of Beaumont, Texas, Tyrone McKenney of Madison, Ala., and Keith McKenney of Farmingdale, N.J.; four sisters, Mary Hildreth of Auburn, Mass., Pauline Petersen of Worcester, Mass., Delores Clark of Eden, N.C., and Pearl Griggs of Corsicana, Texas; one brother, Harold Greene of Corinna; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll J. McKenney; a brother, Bruce Greene; and four sisters, Marie Grignon, Ruth Van Vliet, Lena Parrish, and Dorothy Sanborn. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dana Perkins officiating.
