BAREFOOT BAY, Fla.- Freda L. Nye, 76, of Barefoot Bay, Fla., died May 24, 2005. Born to Raymond and Clara Latno in Bradley, Dec. 28, 1928. Freda was predeceased by her husband, Ernest W. Nye, who died Dec. 10, 1994. They were married 49 1/2 years. Freda is survived by her three sons and their wives, David W. Nye of Palm Bay, Fla. and his wife, Sue, Bruce R. Nye of St. Pete Beach, Fla. and his wife, Darleen, and Alan R. Nye of Portland, and his wife, Linda. Freda also leaves 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Freda worked for 20 years at Striars Textile Mill in Orono, then purchased and ran The Fantastic, a family restaurant in Old Town, Maine. She retired in 1987 and moved to Florida with her husband. Freda loved to play the piano and was an accomplished singer. She could hear any song and quickly pick out the melody on the piano. Within minutes, she had the arrangement memorized and was singing the song from start to finish and encouraging anyone in the room to sing along with her. A Catholic Memorial Service and gathering of friends and family will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at St. Anne’s Church in Bradley.
