PATTEN – Philomen “Tillie” Helena Donovan, 89, went to be with her Lord May 25, 2005, at Houlton Regional Hospital following a short illness. She was born July 9, 1915, and was raised in Patten. She was the daughter of Idella (Shorette) and John B. Chamberlain. She attended school in Patten and was married to Howard Donovan in 1933. She was a dedicated homemaker and she and Howard spent many years in Hampden. For many years they wintered in Florida. Tillie moved back to Patten in the 1980’s. She was predeceased by an infant daughter and later by Howard in 1971. Tillie was one of nine children and was predeceased by brothers, Leon, Clive, Richard, Lewis, and Clayton “Jack”; and one sister, Gloria Conrad. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Hyatt and husband, William, of Littleton, N.H.; a brother, Dana Chamberlain and companion, Claire, of Patten; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Clayton (Phyllis) Chamberlain; a brother-in-law, Andrew Donovan of New Brunswick; many loving nieces and nephews. Tillie enjoyed collecting family photos and had a keen interest in her nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 5 at the Patten Cemetery, with Mike Blake officiating.
