STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. Freda R. Marden, 80, of Chestnut Hill Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Orono, the daughter of the late George and Christine (Theriault) Thibodeau. She was the 15th of 16 children. Freda’s love for life included her family and friends, music, poetry, bingo, reading, knitting, quilting, the casino, and Jeopardy. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Stafford at West Stafford, the Stafford Senior Center and the American Legion Auxiliary. Freda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Meylan “Bill” Marden; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie “Lana” Kology and Aloma and Bruce Clark; two sons, Lanny Marden and Joe Marden, all of Stafford Springs, Conn. She also leaves a special stepson and his wife, Victor and Beverly Marden of Gales Ferry, Conn.; five grandsons, Rick, Peter, Jeffrey, Terry and their wives, and Joey; and three granddaughters, Cindy, Chris and Heather. She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and three sisters of Orono. Freda was predeceased by several brothers and sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Marden. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Second Congregational Church of Stafford at West Stafford, West Stafford Road, Stafford Springs, Conn. Curial will follow in West Stafford Cemetery, Stafford Springs, Conn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Stafford Fire Department, 144 West Stafford Road, Stafford Springs, CT 06076, or to the Stafford Ambulance Association, 11 Monson Road, Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
