SULLIVAN and KISSIMEE, Fla. – Frederich R. Ulrich, died Oct. 9, 2004, in Ellsworth after a long illness. He was born in Erie, Penn., Feb. 3, 1925. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie, Penn., and went on to Gannon College in Erie on the G.I. Bill graduating with a B.S. in economics. He served our country for four years in the Marine Corps and sixteen years in the Army as a military policeman and achieved the rank of Major. He was a past master in the Masonic Lodge in Wurtzburg, Germany. He taught at Ellsworth High School and Sumner Memorial High School for 14 years. He was active in Boy Scouting, served on the Hancock County Planning Board, was a volunteer police chief for the Town of Sullivan and an active member in the Ashville Community Church. He was a member of the American Legion and fought in World War II. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Evelyn Ulrich; his daughter, Deborah Sargent Butterwick; his son, Frederich “Rick” Ulrich and his wife, Jacqueline; six grandchildren, Michelle Rice, Todd Sargent, Scott, Anna and Adam Ulrich, Brooke Butterwick, and one great-grandchild, Sierra Sargent.
