ORRINGTON – Frederick E. Copson, 58, lost his battle with lung cancer on Sept. 9, 2004. He was born July 28, 1946, in Far Rockaway, N.Y., the son of Burton F. and Mary (Walsh) Copson. He graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast in 1964 and held a civil engineering degree from the University of Maine. Fred was a seabee in the U.S. Navy and received a purple heart after having been wounded in Vietnam. For many years, he ran Maineline Homes in East Holden. He enjoyed fishing and working the fields at his farm in Belfast. He is survived by his wife, Gail (Wentworth) of Orrington; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Rodney Morneault of Orrington; a cherished grandson “my best friend Josh”, Joshua Morneault of Orrington; brother and sister-in-law, Burton A. and Margaret of Annadale, Va.; brother, Dennis of Oceanside, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Kathy Copson of Framingham, Mass.; stepbrother and sister-in-law, Tom and Betsy Czehowski, of Norwood, Mass.; sister-in-law, Romaine Johnson of Searsport; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Wentworth of Searsport. The family would like to thank Dr. Hartz and all the wonderful people at CancerCare of Maine. A special thank you to Neal Williams at the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Bangor. Friends and family are invited to a gathering of remembrance 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the reception rooms at Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
