STONINGTON – Frederick “Fred” A. Hutchinson, 92, passed June 16, 2008, surrounded by his family after a brief illness, at Island Nursing Home, Deer Isle. He was born March 9, 1916, in Stonington, the son of the late Harry G. and Alice M. (Chamberlain) Hutchinson. Fred was the last surviving founder of Stonington Lobster Co-Op. He worked as a lobster fisherman his entire life. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Merna (McGaddis) Hutchinson; three children, Eugene Hutchinson and wife, Laura, William Hutchinson, and Arlene Joyce and husband, Norman, all of Deer Isle; four grandchildren, Debora Hutchinson, and husband, Philip Jones, of Deer Isle, Barbara Hillock and husband, Carey, of Eastbrook, Virginia Olsen and husband, Blaine, of Stonington, and Mark Joyce and wife, Shannon, of Stonington; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Sarah, Deven, Michael and Addie; one brother, William S. Hutchinson and wife, Sarah, of Stonington; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Andy Gove of Stonington. He was predeceased by two brothers, Avon and Ernest Hutchinson, both of Stonington.
