VIRGINIA and BANGOR – Dr. James H. Siegel, 91, died June 15, 2008, in Reston, Va. He was born Nov. 7, 1916, at his family home on Hazel Street, Bangor, son of Joseph and Zelda (Gopan) Siegel. Dr. Siegel was a graduate of Bangor public schools, University of Maine, Class of 1938 and a 1943 graduate of Tufts University, School of Dentistry. He opened a solo dentist practice in 1943 on Main Street, Bangor, where he practiced for 48 years. He married Jeannette Hyman, July 4, 1944, and they were married for 60 years. He was a member of Congregations Toldos Itzack and Beth Abraham synagogues, member of a congregation in Ashburn, Va., Masonic Lodge and Anah Shriners, Penobscot Valley Dentist Society, Maine Dental Association and American Dental Association. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Siegel and his wife, Elaine, of Bedford, Mass., and David Alan Siegel and his wife, Judith, of Phoenix; one daughter, Deborah Helene (Siegel) Immerman and her husband, Perry, of Ashburn, Va.; six grandchildren, Rachel Safer and her husband, Morry, Laura Shechter and her husband, Guy, Karen Shechter and her husband, Barak, Daniel Siegel, Susan Immerman and Stacy Rabkin and her husband, Michael; and one sister, Ruth Siegel of Bangor. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jeannette. A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Toldos Itzack Cemetery, Mount Hope Avenue, Bangor, with Rabbi Alter Bukiet of Chabad of Bedford, Mass., officiating.
