HAWTHORNE, Nev. – Galen K. Shorey, 65, passed away unexpectedly April 28, 2006, at his son’s home in Stagecoach, Nev. He was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Lincoln, the son of Eugene and Irene (Champeon) Shorey. Galen attended Burlington schools and graduated from Bangor High School in 1958. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He lived in Bangor, Exeter, Dexter and Sinton, Texas; from there he moved to Nevada. He is predeceased by his parents; one son, Galen Jr.; and a grandson, Alexander Shorey. He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Liddicoat and Rose Marie Sherrill; four sons, Eric, Daniel, Brad and Matthew Shorey; three sisters, Jeanette Bradbury, Lois Norris and Lorraine Curtis; one brother, Vinal; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special aunt, Laura “Chub” Shorey; and uncle, Arnold “Hokey”; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His wishes were that he be cremated and his ashes sprinkled over his fishing hole in Leavete Meadows Pond, Calif., where he spent so much of his time. Cremation took place at FitzHenry’s Crematory, Hawthorne, Nev. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at the Mount Repose Cemetery, Burlington, with Pastor Keith Shorey. A gathering will be held immediately afterward at Vinal and Carmie Shorey’s home, 182 Woodman Mills Rd., Lowell.
