CALAIS – Edward F. Meyers O.D., 85, of Hernando, Fla. died July 4, 2004, at Brentwood Health Center in Lecanto, Fla. He was born Oct. 28, 1918, to Frank and Eleanor Meyers. He was a retired optometrist and a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the American Optometrist Association, past president of the Maine Optometrist Association. He served on the board of directors for the Calais Regional Hospital for several years. He was a Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club of Calais and also served on the board of directors for the St Croix Bowling Club and the St Croix Golf Club. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Calais. There will be a celebration of life for Dr. Meyers 11 a.m. July 10, at St James Catholic Church, 15 Hillside St, Baileyville. The interment will be after the celebration at the Calais Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St, Calais.
