PALMYRA – Garfield S. Watson, 71, died Feb. 14, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Wallagrass, a son of Leland and Auora (Caron) Watson. He attended Corinna Union Academy and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed for more than 25 years at Irving Tanning Co., Hartland and was also self-employed as a locksmith and small engine repairman. Garfield was a member of Church of Christ, Newport. He is survived by a son, Steven and wife, Marie Watson, of Jamaica, N.Y.; a daughter, Diane Billington of Bidde-ford; three sisters, Edna and husband, Ronald Chase, of Durham, Darlene and husband, Hugo Frati, and Bernice “Bun-ny” and husband, Jack Quirk, all of Hampden; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Leland Watson Jr. Friends may call 2-4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Monday.
