LITTLE FALLS, N.J. – Gaston B. Kempen, 88, of Little Falls, N.J., died Sun-day, Jan. 16, 2005, at the Harborage Nursing Home, North Bergen, N.J. Born in Tournai, Belgium, he came to the U.S. in 1937, settling in Brooklyn, N.Y. He lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. until 1952, and then moved to Clifton. He lived there until moving to Little Falls in 1975. He went in business with his father-in-law’s business, G&H Machinery, Little Falls, and worked their until 1985. He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II, with the rank of lieutenant JG. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, YM/YWCA and the Rotary Club. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Elaine Magrill and a stepson, David Baumol. He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Asch; one son, Gerry Kempen of Middletown, R.I.; one daughter, Gael MacLeod; stepson, Robert Baumol and stepdaughter, Judy; one brother, Gerard of Belgium. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, N.J. Arrangements by Gutterman-Musicant, Hackensack, N.J.
