CARIBOU – John B. Belanger, 88, husband of the late Huberta (Gahagan) “Bert” Belanger, died May 1, 2005, at Van Buren. He was born June 27, 1916, at Caribou, the son of Vital X. and Victoria (Ouellette) Belanger. He was educated in the Caribou School System. John was a well-known potato farmer in the Caribou area for many years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree member of the Fred B. Brescia Council, Knights of Columbus. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Deena Belanger and John P. and Marty Belanger, all of Caribou; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dan Frodin, of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Gerard Belanger of Caribou; three sisters, Laura Kachurik, Georgianna Bouchard and Angeline Bouchard; a grandson, J.R. Belanger and his wife, Rani, of Caribou; a granddaughter, Julie Belanger and her special friend, Rick, of Biddeford; a great-grandson, Jay; several nieces and nephews including Robert Marquis and Anne Oliver, who were raised with John’s family. He was predeceased by his wife, Huberta on May 24, 2000; and a son, David Belanger. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Fr. David Raymond, associate pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of John may do so to the charity of one’s choice.
