ORLAND – Geneva Pearl (Perkins) Sherwood, 85, died Aug. 24, 2004, at her son’s home in West Gardiner. She was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Selden, the daughter of Charles Augustus and Ruth Evangeline (Sutherland) Perkins. She attended Danforth High School, and married Robert Alpheus Sherwood in November 1955. Geneva enjoyed canning fresh vegetables, fishing, playing horseshoes and cards, spending time at her camp during the summer months, tending to her flowers, and going to yard sales. Geneva is survived by her son, Bryan E. Puckett of West Gardiner; her stepchildren, Paul W. Sherwood of Orland, Fred S. Sherwood of Hermon, Steven T. Sherwood of Sarasota, Fla., and Brenda H. MacDonald of Dedham; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children; a brother, Virgil Charles Perkins of Hope; two sisters, Vivian Claire Cummings and Lottie Cora Moody, both of Brewer; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Geneva was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Sherwood; adopted daughter, Annette E. Shorey; sister, Hazel Doreen Faulkner; and brother, Daniel Clifton Perkins. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2004, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St. Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, North Bucksport. A reception will follow at the Edward K. Arey Community Center, River Road, North Bucksport. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Geneva’s memory to the “Healthreach Hospice Comfort Fund” in lieu of flowers.
