LIBERTY – George A. Anderson, 77, long time resident of Liberty, passed away June 4, 2007, after a long illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Malden, Mass. He graduated from Reading High School, Springfield College and completed his master’s degree in education at the University of Maine in Orono. He worked as a teacher, coach and eventually a principal for many years in North Berwick. He continued on in his career with the State Principal’s Association and was involved in numerous high school tournaments. After he retired to Liberty, he became involved with the local school board. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a radio operator and completed his duty in Japan in between high school and college. He is survived by his wife, Joan; and five children, Carol Fitzpatrick, Robert Anderson, Janice Anderson, Janet Anderson-Murch and Laurie Belden and five grandchildren. His eldest daughter, Kathy Couture predeceased him in 2004. There will be no funeral services, per his last wishes.
