He was adopted by William J. Schunk after his father, George A Borth, died when he was three years old. He completed an internship in dentistry at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, Mich. and his residency in Endodontics at the University of Detroit School of Dentistry. He was a former president of the Penobscot Valley Dental Society and gave numerous lectures to various dental societies. George was an avid fisherman, golfer and gardener. A lover of music, he played the violin as a child and was a great opera singer.
