LEVANT – George A. Dyer, 79, died Jan. 7, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 12, 1926, in Westbrook, the son of Clyde G. and Mildred C. (Shaw) Dyer. George graduated from Westbook High School and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He retired from New England Telephone as a phone engineer after 37 years of service. Continuing his own telephone engineering he worked as a contractor for several companies until his true retirement at 65. George was a member and treasurer of the Levant Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years. His focus and his life was his family and he will be dearly missed. George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Winifred (Blake) Dyer; his children, Carol Davis and husband, Larry, of Hermon, Mary Overlock and husband, Barry, of Hermon, Richard A. Dyer of Levant; two brothers, Byron Dyer of Westbrook, James Dyer of Limerick; three sisters, Grace Jordan of Gorham, Myrtle Miller of Limington, Mary Bruns of Scarborough; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Deanna Lizotte in 1991. Services will be private for the family. Gifts in his memory may be made to the Levant Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
