CLINTON – With sadness in our hearts, the family of George A. Lounsbury Jr., would like to share the news of his passing. George A. Lounsbury Jr. passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville. He was born Sept. 21, 1953, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of George A. Sr. and Nancy I. (Flynn) Lounsbury. George enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served from March 12, 1971 to March 31, 1995. He was very proud of the career he chose serving his country. He was also very proud of his education, earning his masters degree while serving in the military. On July 5, 1972, he married the former Margaret Cash and they shared many wonderful years together. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Hampden. George was a member of the Fairfield American Legion and also the Fairfield VFW Post. He enjoyed camping, reading and listening to public radio. He was predeceased by his father, George A. Lounsbury Sr.; and his sister, Julie Alexander. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Margaret; his children, George A. Lounsbury III of Clinton and Kevin J. Lounsbury and his wife, Jamie, of Clinton; his brother, Stephen Lounsbury of Unity; his sister, Dawn Kozuchowski and her husband, Kevin, of Newburyport, Mass.; his grandchildren, Kara, Hailey, Cassidy and Paige Lounsbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will take place 10 a.m. Friday, May 19, at the new Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
