GEORGE E. LANPHER JR. ORLAND and BREWER -George E. Lanpher Jr., 73, died at his home May 23, 2005, in Brewer, after a brief courageous fight with cancer. He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Bucksport, the son of Caroline F. (Gross) and George E. Lanpher Sr. George was a great guy with a fantastic sense of humor. He loved airplanes, ducks, music, and fire trucks. He was very friendly, extremely generous, and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed and always will be remembered. He is survived by two siblings, Russell Lanpher Sr. of Orland, and Margaret Small of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; very special friends, Rebecca Leonard, Erica Field, Cathy Latino, Henry Redwine, Chad Blanchard, Penny Parent, Gill Robinson, Robin Alzerreca, Alicia Martin, Libbey Gulliver, and Twila Illingworth. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by siblings, Robert Lanpher, Beenie Gross, and Linwood Dorr. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a celebration of his life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, with Ken Bustard officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland. Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Orland Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 254, Orland, ME 04472.
