MILLINOCKET – George E. Packard, 65, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Garland, the son of Vern and Emma (Grinell) Packard. George was the husband of the late Helen M. (Tibbetts) Packard, who predeceased him Dec. 2, 2005. He was retired from the State of Maine Highway Department where he was a dedicated worker. He enjoyed his work managing state and local roads in and around the Millinocket area. George loved his wife and his family. He loved the woods, the outdoors and taking his family out on picnics and fishing. He is survived by a daughter, Isla Hamlin and her husband, David, of Gardiner; two grandchildren, Tina Lamoreau of Gardiner and John Lamoreau Jr. and his wife, Kelly, and their two children, Sami and Jake of Windsor; two brothers, Vern and wife, Billie Ann Packard, of West Gardiner and Norman and wife, Sue Packard, of Garland; a sister, Floria Perrin. In addition to his wife, the love of his life, Helen; George was predeceased by two sons, Kenneth and Jackie; and a brother, Steve Packard. He will be interred with his wife Helen at Litchfield Plain Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket.
