WEBSTER PLANTATION – George E. Smith, 81, husband of Mildred (Mail-man) Smith, died July 22, 2006, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born June 30, 1925, in Webster Plantation, the son of Percy and Lottie (Worster) Smith. George was a hard woods worker all his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. George loved being with his family, friends and grandchildren. He was a veteran of World War II. He married Mildred Mailman Jan. 7, 1947, and they had eight children. In addition to his wife, Mildred of Webster Plantation, he is survived by five children, Janice Flegert and John of Brimfield, Mass., Georgena York of Springfield, Richard Smith and Marilin of Howland, William Smith and Tamra and Ernest Smith and Lisa, all of West Enfield; two brothers, Wallace Smith and Elenore of Springfield and Percy Smith and Linda of Gray; eight sisters, Flora Curtis and Frederick of Prentiss, Shirley Worster of Kingman, Betty Leach and LeRoy of Bottle Lake, Barbara Fleming of Medway, Louise Worster and Vernon of Prentiss, Christine Ham of California, Patsy Toby of Lincoln and Marion and Richard Gilmore of Bath; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three children, Sheila Payne, Dorothy Doane and George Smith; and one sister, Glennas Worster. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 24, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev.
