MEDWAY – George Edward Stanley, Sr., “Eddie”, our special and devoted dad and granddad went home to be with his Savior, Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by his family. Eddie was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Geraldine (Coon) Stanley and three brothers, Earl, Otho, and Leon; one sister, Beatrice McLaughlin. He is survived by his three children, Margaret “Peggy” E. Rosher and her husband, Robert, of East Millinocket, George Jr. and his wife, Edwina, of Medway, and Galen and his wife, Nancy, of Medway. In addition to his children, he is also survived by seven grandchildren, Lynn Morrow and her husband, Christopher, Denise Goode and her husband, Thomas, Julie Tibbetts and her husband, Chris, Adam Stanley, Melanie Stanley, Jared and his wife, Apryl, Daren and fianc?e, Tara Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Collin Morrow, and David Stanley; four brothers, Carroll, John, Eugene, and Alton (Tashie); two sisters, Clara Cox and Norma Kimball, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his loving and supporting friend, Anna Snowman of Woodville. Eddie worked for Great Northern Paper Company for more than 39 years and retired in 1987 as head fireman in the Steam Plant. He had many interests and a great love of the outdoors, especially spending time at his camp on Schoodic Lake. He also enjoyed a special kinship with his lifelong friend, Rev. Carl Gleason. He was also a member of the Tri-Town Baptist Church. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at the Tri Town Baptist Church in East Millinocket with Pastor David Chicoine and Todd Bell officiating.
