PATTEN – George F. Peavey, 94, died Sept. 6, 2007, in Patten. He was born July 3, 1913, in Patten, the son of John and Edith (Hutchinson) Peavey. George was the 1937 Lightweight Golden Glove champion for the state of Maine. He is survived by one brother, John Halbert Peavey of Leominster, Mass. He was predeceased by siblings, Helen Stimpson, Alice Peavey, Olive Cunningham and Anne Gould. Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, Patten, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tae Sung Kang officiating. Interment will be at Patten Cemetery. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
