BELMONT – George G. Furbush, 66, died Nov. 17, 2003, at his residence in Belmont. He was born June 15, 1937, in Belfast, son of Leland D. and Lillian (Hustus) Furbush. He served in the U.S. Army and then worked as a correctional officer at the Maine State Prison. He was a member of the Quantabacook Lodge No. 129 in Searsmont, and the Waldo County YMCA. George was predeceased by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Marie Furbush of Belmont; daughter, Carla Goddard and her husband, David, and their three children, Nicole, Chrissy and David III; son, George G. Furbush Jr. and his wife, Christa, and their five children, Josiah, Ryan, Bekah, Joshua, Garrett; three brothers, Leland Furbush of Brooks, Norman Furbush, Edwin Furbush and wife, Caro, of Northport; two sisters, Violet Hanson and husband, Myron, of Brooks, Lilly Clark and husband, Robert, of Port Henry, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law. A celebration of his life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Morrill Baptist Church, with Rev. Tom Franks officiating. Burial will take place at the Maine Veterans Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in George’s memory to Quantabacook Lodge No. 129, Searsmont, ME 04973 or Waldo County YMCA, 157 Lincolnville Ave., Belfast, ME 04915. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
