EASTPORT and WORCESTER, Mass. – George H. Scott, 53, died April 9, 2005, surrounded by his sisters and brothers-in-law. He died at the Mass Memorial Hospital in Worcester after a long illness. He was born May 22, 1951, in Eastport, the son of George R. and Maybell E. (Cheverie) Scott. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran serving in the U.S. army from 1969 to 1973. He graduated from Shead High School in 1969, and was a member of the Washington Street Baptist Church. During his lifetime he worked with his father as a painter and then took over the business after his father’s death. He also was a proficient locksmith. George retired from Mass Electric, where he trimmed trees back from power lines and other storm related work. George was compassionate for others and had a great love for animals and the outdoors. He will be missed and remembered by a family who loved him dearly. He is survived by his mother, Maybell Scott of Eastport; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana (Scott) and William Boone, and Nancy (Scott) and Andrew Seeley, all of Eastport; his son, Joseph; and stepsons, Dale and Dennis, all of Worcester, Mass.; aunts and uncles, Ruby and Frank Cyganowski of Fairhaven, Mass., and Lewis and Renee Cheverie of Danbury, Conn.; nieces and nephews, Carl Marsh and family of Chesterfield, S.C., Scott Marsh and family of Dover-Foxcroft and Clifton, Sarah (Marsh) LaViolet and family of Eastport, Lisa (Seeley) McCarthy and family of Coltunbia Falls, and Andrew Seeley and family of Eastport; six grandnephews and five grandnieces. He was predeceased by his father, George R. Scott; and his wife, Ann. Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Flagg Funeral Home in Eastport. Memorial services will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor, Dr. Paul Emery officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Bayside Cemetery at a later date.
