PRESQUE ISLE and CARIBOU – George L. Kelley, 73, died Jan. 7, 2004 at Presque Isle. He was born April 18, 1930, at Caribou, the son of Oscar Elery and Elva Jane (Ketch) Kelley. George was a graduate of the Caribou High School and served with the U.S. Marine Corps as a staff sergeant during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He received the Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, Korean PUC Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the Nation Defense Service Medal and the Commendation Ribbon and Combat “V” Medal. He was the farm foreman for Harry Morris from 1954-1974 and then for Cyrus Morris from 1974 until his retirement in 1991. George attended the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Uncle “Georgie” will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his loving family, Alma, Regina, Jennafer, Christopher and his special friend, his dog Butch. Friends may visit with the family 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Spring interment with military services will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of George may do so through the American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330-5615. Envelopes may be obtained through the funeral home.
